12 Keyfund Skills

The 12 Keyfund Skills were specially developed from work dating back nearly 20 years. They help young people focus on core attributes which they will develop as they work on planning their projects. And they work. That's why we still use the same 12 Keyfund Skills that we know and love today.

The 12 Keyfund Skills are...

Work out what you're good & not so good at
Knowing what you're good at and what you'll find difficult will help you plan your project effectively.

Solve problems
Getting it sorted, working a way around any problems, think about new and different ways to do things.

Plan your time & energy
Knowing what to do first.....and what can hang on until next time we plan to meet up.

Cope with stress & tension
Not getting really angry or sick of the whole thing, not worrying or feeling picked on.... Just chill out and stay in control.

Negotiate
Wheeling and dealing. Striking a bargain, getting the best possible deal for your group.

Settle disagreements
Not arguing over things all the time, finding a compromise with no grudges. Getting it back together if you fall out.

Search for information & get advice
Knowing what to ask about stuff, where to find things out, getting the facts, sussing things out. Not being scared to ask.

Deal with people in power and authority
Being respectful to people but not being intimidated or shy, making sure you get your point across and that they listen.

Evaluate your own performance
Looking at how well you do, understanding if things go wrong and learn from that. Be honest and fair on yourself.

Communicate
Talking with people, letting them know what you think and listening to other people's opinions.

Agree your responsibilities & see them through
Doing your share, doing what you said you would do... being reliable and getting on with it.

Make decisions
Talking with people, letting them know what you think and listening to other people's opinions.
